It’s been a busy couple of months at BBack Car Care, but we are never too busy to give back to our community here in Doylestown and Bucks County. We are fortunate enough to have really terrific organizations supporting various causes in our community. One of those organizations is the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC,) which aims to lift folks out of poverty and lead them on a path to self-sufficiency.
Recently, BCOC was in need of water to help support their clients and volunteer staff. We were happy to donate 25 cases of water to help them and their mission. Below, Bobbie Hicks and her son, Tom, helped to unload the cases out of the truck.
“Water seems like such a simple and almost trivial resource at first take,” says Bobbie. “Yet, it becomes so important when you think about it as a way to keep people healthy, safe and hydrated. It’s been so dangerously hot the past couple weeks and you realize that water is critical to BCOC and their day-to-day work.
For years, we’ve also partnered with Bucks County Opportunity Council with their Wheelz2Work program, which aims to provide reliable transportation to folks who need to get to work and/or school but can’t afford reliable transportation. BBack Car Care offers free assessments to cars that are donated to the organization and offer low cost, high quality repair work to get these cars ready for the road.
“It’s truly a win-win-win situation working with Bucks County Opportunity Council,’ says Bob Back, owner of BBack Car Care. “The staff and volunteers get to do their job a little easier. The recipients receive the help they need, and we are given the opportunity to give back in some small way to the community which has and continues to support our business.”
The mission of the Bucks County Opportunity Council is to reduce poverty and partner with the community to promote economic self-sufficiency. Our vision is to elevate the awareness of poverty, and to create and lead partnerships to make our community a “Bridges Out of Poverty” community. We strive to be a model of seamless case management and influence our community to make reducing poverty one of its priorities.
